    Robyn Gobbel

    Robyn Gobbel, LCSW is a therapist in private practice in Austin, TX and founder of the Central Texas Attachment & Trauma Center.  Robyn earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Therapy with Foster and Adoptive Families from Portland State University.  Robyn’s clinical work is focused on helping children who experienced early abuse, neglect, and trauma, as well as the families who love and care for them.  She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Integrative Team Treatment for Attachment Trauma, and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).  Robyn is the past-president of Adoption Knowledge Affiliates, an adoption triad support and education non-profit in Austin, TX.  In addition to her clinical work, Robyn writes a blog for parents of trauma at www.GobbelCounseling.com/blog, enjoys teaching workshops and classes, and has spoken at adoption conferences throughout the United States.

  • Dr. Ken Alexander

    Dr. Ken Alexander

    Dr. Alexander attended the University of Washington in Seattle , where he earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. Following medical school, Dr. Alexander received residency training at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Alexander completed fellowship training with the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Duke University. During his fellowship, he studied papillomaviruses in the research laboratories at Burroughs-Wellcome Company. In 1995, Dr. Alexander joined the faculty at Duke University. In 2005, he came to the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Chicago, where he now serves as section chief. Dr. Alexander’s research interests include transcription and replication control of human papillomaviruses, innate immune responses to papillomavirus infections, papillomavirus antiviral therapy, and promotion of HPV vaccination in medically underserved communities. Dr. Alexander has a wife and two teenaged daughters.

    J. McLane Layton is founder and President of Equality for Adopted Children (EACH), an organziation that advocates for equal treatment of adopted children with biological children under federal and state laws. McLane knew since she was a college student that she would one day be an adoptive parent. She was deeply moved by a story of orphaned siblings who fought to avoid being placed into separate homes. After graduating from law school, McLane met her future husband Rusty, and they proceeded to build their lives and respective careers, but the story of the siblings always remained close to her heart. Nine years later, Rusty and McLane became aware of three siblings in an orphanage overseas who were in need of a loving home. The Layton’s were now able to realize their longtime dream of adopting a sibling set.

    Linda Walsh, NP

    Linda Walsh, NP is the Director of Clinical Operations & Outreach for the Pediatric & Adolescent HIV Team as well as the International Adoption Clinic at the University of Chicago. Linda has a wealth of experience treating children and adolescents infected with HIV/AIDS, along with internationally adopted children in general. She is trained as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University, Chicago, Illinois. Recently, Linda traveled to Uganda with a team from Project HOPEFUL that set up medical clinics to treat the underserved there.

  • Bob Woods

    Bob graduated with a undergraduate degree in business from the University of Nebraska and acquired his MBA from Creighton University. He has spent over 22 years working for large consumer product goods companies in various supply chain roles. His current role is with Selig Sealing Products, Inc. as the Global Vice President of Purchasing in Chicago. He is also the current Senior Pastor of Grace Covenant Christian Center in New Lenox, IL. He sat on two nonprofit boards prior to participating in Project HOPEFUL’s board. Bob has been married for 22 years to his beautiful wife Carla and has two children, Bryan who is attending Iowa State to be an engineer and Hannah who is attending the University of Nebraska to become an Orthodontist. They reside in Frankfort, IL, a suburb of Chicago.
