Due to the extended travel time waiting for HIV waiver approval
only my husband Randy (Ran) traveled to pick up Beti. Ran filed
Beti's waiver on a Wednesday and was told it would be back in
a few days. Friday came and went - no waiver. Monday came and
went - no waiver, That evening I visited with Ran and he was
quite concerned over an illness that had set in on him. Tuesday
still no waiver and Randy was getting increasingly worse - he
was quite concerned and felt he may need to fly home for medical
attention and then fly back for Beti. I decided I should contact
Carolyn at PH and ask if there was anything PH could do (they
already had our G28). She immediately emailed me back to let
me know she was "on it." I remember going to bed Tuesday
night pleading with the Lord to please heal Ran and please get
our waiver process completed. Upon waking Wednesday morning
the first thing I did was check my email. Carolyn had emailed
that McLane was looking into it and she would keep me posted.
Hours later I learned that the waiver was approved and on its
way back to Ethiopia allowing Ran to travel home on Friday with
Beti. In talking with Carolyn on Thursday I found out exactly
how AMAZING and WONDERFUL McLane and PH are. As it turns out,
McLane was on vacation during this time. She took time off from
her family time to step in and expedite our waiver process.
Had she not stepped in we were told that it would have been
at least Monday if not Tuesday before the waiver would be back
in Ethiopia. I can't thank them enough for all they do for our
children and for us as families trying to get thru this process.
Please support PH and EACH in anyway possible. These are amazing
people who go to bat for us and our children in every way they
can! Thank you Carolyn, McLane, and PH - we truly are indebted
to you.
Randy and Lori Stofferahn and family!
